Belinda Yates

- soprano

Belinda studied at the Royal College of Music and since then she has combined her career working as a soloist, in recital, opera and with chamber choir. She was awarded a Young Artist Platform BBC recital and has given concerts abroad for the British Council. Belinda appears as soloist on a number of classical CDs with music ranging from Purcell to Poulenc.

Aswell as her own concert work she has sung with many professional choral groups including The Kings Consort, The Finzi Singers and The Monteverdi Choir. With the latter, Belinda took part in the momentous Bach Cantata project which performed every existing cantata throughout Europe from Christmas 1999 to Christmas 2000.

Opera experience includes a recent triumph in Paris of The Trojans by Berlioz conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

In Autumn 2004 Belinda is touring the Far East with Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Her great love is the magic of direct communication with an audience in recital, and her song repertoire spans Baroque to 20th century singing with piano or early instruments.
