In 'Ripe Baroque', we can hear how the great composers of the 18th century drew inspiration both from the music of the past as well as from their contemporaries and used it to create mature baroque style as we know it today - the perfect synthesis of the Italian, German and French musical styles.

This musical genre has retained a universal appeal for more than 250 years as can be seen by the popularity of pieces such as the famous violinistic showpiece the Vitali Chaconne. The rarely heard original version is presented in this programme.

Belinda Yates - soprano
Penelope Spencer - violin
